The State Theatre is proud to announce that Hanson “The Walk Around the World Tour” with special guests Dave Barnes and Everybody Else will be making a stop at The State Theatre on Sunday, October 12 at 8:00pm.
Bono called their music ‘genius’. Hip producers like the Dust Brothers and Stephen Lironi worked with them early on, even before millions of fans screamed their names and critics applauded them. But for Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson, it's always been about the music, and there's always been a message in the music for those who were really listening.
A band of brothers that started out nearly 15 years ago, Hanson never imaged that one day the whole world would sing one of their songs. Yet that’s exactly what happened when they broke onto the popular music scene in 1997 with the hit song “MMMBop,” which quickly became a worldwide number one hit. Their major label debut, Middle of Nowhere, went four times Platinum in the United States and earned the band three Grammy nominations. Their sophomore effort, This Time Around, leaned toward rock, blues and gospel, while 2004’s Underneath was a more richly textured and organic twist on Hanson’s signature brand of pop-rock. The Walk, their most recent album, which was released in 2007 on their own 3CG Records, is a further exploration of the sound that prompted New York’s “Village Voice” to proclaim Hanson as “the best straight-up rock band in America, now sowing sonic oats as independents.” “The Great Divide,” a single from The Walk was recorded during a trip Hanson took to Mozambique and South Africa, where they were amazed by the overwhelming sense of optimism of the people they met, despite being surrounded by disease and poverty. All proceeds from downloading the single, which was released in November in honor of World AIDS Day, will go to the Perinatal HIV Research Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa. The Walk, however, is more than just the story of three brothers whose interest and compassion led them halfway around the world. It’s an album with an old-school approach with many of the songs recorded “live” off the floor and without the overdubbing that is common with many artists today. “The Walk is the walk of life,” Zac says, “People make decisions to go for dreams, to do something difficult, or they decide to be part of the crowd that watches. You have to make those decisions by yourself.”

Dave Barnes
Newly arrived in Nashville, armed with just his acoustic guitar, Dave Barnes gravitated to the folk scene. After playing his fair share of solo acoustic shows, though, Dave made has way back to his roots, and found himself looking for music with both depth and groove. This lead Barnes to embrace Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan and seemingly everything in between. `I've been on a massive Toto kick lately,` he shares, gleefully, just after communicating his affection for Phil Collins' melodies in Invisible Touch-era Genesis. –Official Website

Everybody Else
Everybody Else, a trio named for a Kinks B-side, owe much to the harmonies and economical songwriting of the sixties, but they draw just as much on more modern music. Their lyrics are full of concrete images, and are often more melancholy than the music they accompany. Over the fuzzed-out disco of In Memoriam are words about mourning the memories of lost love. Listeners are left in that magical place where you don't really know what you are feeling, but it's giving you chills.
